Can Advertisements Be Harmful?

Advertising if done incorrectly can be harmful to two individuals. The consumer and the business itself that sent out the advertisement.

False advertisement is illegal and gives us marketers a tight niche spot in which we try to avoid.

A business may suffer through negativity if what they promote is not what is received by the customer.

Advertising is extremely beneficial to consumers, businesses, and the economy as a whole. Marketing brings in sales which brings in revenue & net profit which allows a business to employee more people, which in turn these customers spend money in the economy.

Advertising is the communication link & an extremely powerful way to spread information about issues, products, your company, good news, and bad news that’s informative.

The average American may see up to over 5000 ads per day, however advertisement can cause harm if done wrong.

Advertisement has the ability to influence people. The way we can target individuals, our use of consumer psychology, and the current trends that are happening.

For instance the cinnamon challenge that went viral, or the eating of tipods that went viral. These are instances where advertisements can be harmful to individual.
